Proposed Change of Use, Lot 20-1, portion of PID No. 995514 Union Road, Brackley

This public meeting is to notify interested parties that the Rural Municipality of Brackley has received an application to change the use of Lot 20-1 portion of pid no. 995514, Union Road, Brackley from existing vacant land to a (truck) transport parts and services operation. The subject land is currently zoned (M1) Industrial. Planning Board will hold a Public Meeting, Wednesday, June 17th, 2020 at 6:30 pm at the Brackley Commons, 14 Union Road, Brackley. Meeting shall be restricted to a maximum of 15 participants as per the Chief Public Health Office. The purpose of the meeting is to allow residents and other interested persons an opportunity to review and make representation concerning the proposed change of use.
All information may be viewed on the Municipal website www.brackleypei.ca.

Public Notice

Due to recent COVID-19 developments both on the Island and globally, members of the Brackley Council decided that it is in the best interests of the community to cancel the upcoming council meeting scheduled for this Wednesday, March 18.  Additionally, we will be closing the Commons effective immediately until further notice.  Those who have already scheduled events at the Commons will be contacted by Pat Beer and will be given a refund.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause but feel that it is the best way to proceed given the circumstances. Please stay safe during this difficult time.

Plan (April 1, 2019 – March 31, 2020) and the proposed
Budget (April 1, 2020 – March 31, 2021) is scheduled for
Monday, March 2nd at 7:00 p.m. at the Commons; storm date
is Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:00 p.m.


A Public Meeting to discuss and adopt the proposed Budget
(April 1, 2020 – March 31, 2021) is scheduled for Wednesday,
March 18th at 7:00 p.m. at the Commons; Regular Council
Meeting will follow. Storm date is Thursday, March 19 th at
7:00 p.m.


Santa and the North River Fire Department

The Rural Municipality of Brackley would
like to invite children of all ages to enjoy
some hot chocolate and (cookies provided
by the members of the Brackley Women’s
Institute) and celebrate the Christmas
Season! Santa and the North River Fire
Department will be at Brackley Commons on
Saturday, December 14th at 7:30 p.m. (storm
date is Saturday, December 21st at 7:30
p.m.).

Changes to Official Plan and Zoning and Subdivision (Development) Bylaw

Take notice that pursuant to the Planning Act and the Rural Municipality of Brackley’s Official Plan and Zoning and Subdivision (Development) Bylaw, Planning Board will hold a Public Meeting, Monday, December 2, 2019 at 7:00 pm at the Brackley Commons, 14 Union Road, Brackley.

Storm date: Tuesday, December 3, 2019 same time and location.

The purpose of the meeting is to allow residents and other interested persons an opportunity to review and make representation concerning the following amendments to the Rural Municipality of Brackley’s Official Plan and Development Bylaw and: 

  • To change PID# 1075019, 1078 Winsloe Road from (A1) Agricultural Zone to (M1) Industrial Zone;
  • To amend the Official Plan – General Land Use Plan in order to accommodate the above noted change.

Official Plan, Zoning & Subdivision Control (Development) Bylaw

A review of our Official Plan, Zoning and Subdivision Control (Development) Bylaw has been completed and approved by Minister Bloyce Thompson, PEI Department of Agriculture and Land effective on October 10, 2019. This expands land use planning across our entire community including all of the land which was part of former Municipality of Winsloe South. All subdivision and / or development applications for the entire municipality, including Winsloe South, must now be submitted to the Rural Municipality of Brackley. The forms required for all applications will soon be available to download on our website. These forms can also be obtained from our administrator, Maureen Cudmore Through our Contact Us page or our Development Officer, Derek French at dfrenchservices@gmail.com. Technical questions regarding the revised Official Plan and Bylaws can be directed to Derek French.

Notice of Nomination Proceedings
PURSUANT TO THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT ACT

Public Notice is hereby given to the electors of the Rural Municipality of Brackley that a By-Election will be held on November 18, 2019 to elect 2 Councillors to fill 2 vacancies for the term of office ending on December 6, 2022.

The nomination period for the 2 Councillor positions commences on October 23, 2019 and closes at 2:00 p.m. on November 1, 2019.

Nominations shall only be received during office hours at the election office, located at Brackley Commons, 14 Union Road, Brackley.

The election office hours shall be: October 23, 4:00-7:00 p.m.; October 24, 4:00-7:00 p.m.; October 30, 4:00-7:00 p.m. and November 1, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

The deadline for correcting elector information shall be no later than 11:59 a.m. on November 5, 2019.

Upcoming Events for Canada Day!

10:30 a.m.

A Memorial Monument Dedication Ceremony will be held at the former
Brackley United Church (monument location) at 10:30 a.m. on Monday,
July 1 st . This event is dedicated to the Brackley pioneers who in 1863 built
their Church beside an earlier school that later became the Hall on this site
and to the residents who gathered here for educational, spiritual and social
needs for 150 years. Immediately following the Dedication Ceremony,
Canada Day Celebrations will take place at the Brackley Commons at

11:00 a.m.

Come one, come all to our annual Canada Day celebration on
Monday, July 1 st at 11:00 a.m. at Brackley Commons! There
will be lots of fun, food, and social time and a great opportunity to
meet and greet neighbors and friends. The Agenda includes our
MLA Special Guest Premier Dennis King, the Magic Man, Pater’s
Sound System, Carter MacLennan, Musician and for the 1 st time
on Canada Day Bouncy Castle. Please join the Rural Municipality
of Brackley Council as we celebrate this historic event with
funding provided by Canadian Heritage!


PUBLIC HEARING/OPEN HOUSE

The Rural Municipality of Brackley is undergoing a major review of its Official Plan, General Land Use Plan, Zoning Map, and Zoning & Subdivision Control (Development) Bylaw in accordance with the Provincial Planning Act. As such, Brackley and Winsloe South residents, landowners and other interested parties are invited to attend a Public Hearing/Open House as an opportunity to make representations and ask questions concerning the proposed documents. The Public Hearing/Open House will be held on:

Property Maintenance Position

A Property Maintenance position is open to the residents of the Rural Municipality of Brackley.

Qualifications:

  • General Maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of Recreational Facilities, Brackley Commons & Associated Property.
  • Must have Reliable Vehicle & Driver’s License.
  • Age of Majority.

Duties:

  • Maintain property by checking on repairs at the Commons e.g. generator, etc.
  • Repair/maintain equipment e.g. tables, chairs, fridge, stove.
  • Exterior building maintenance.
  • Flag replacement.
  • Contracting landscaping and snow removal companies.  
  • Routinely check the premises and act as a liaison with Community Council.
  • Contact the North River Fire Department/RCMP or Security in case of emergency.
  • Waste Watch.
  • Put up and take down tennis nets.
  • Other duties as required.  

Average Hours:   10-15 Hours per week
